The Rabbinical School

David has rabbi in his genes. His grandfather was the rabbi of the synagogue he attended growing up, and other members of his extended family are also rabbis. At York University in Toronto, David majored in Religious Studies and he chose to continue with Judaic studies at The Jewish Theological Seminary.

Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, David, a second-year student at The Rabbinical School, gets inspired by his classes in Talmud, Jewish Law, and Homiletics. “It’s fascinating to be at the center of this intensive Jewish academic environment. And I’m eager to refine my skills as a communicator, to learn how to inspire through speaking.”

As a rabbinical student, David has many opportunities to hone his skills as a speaker and leader. He teaches religious school at Congregation Oheb Shalom in South Orange, New Jersey. And each month he travels to the Hillel of the University of Maryland, where he leads activities and teaches. “I’m so busy. l love the mixture of being in both the classroom and the outside world. I feel like I’m getting excellent training for whatever rabbinic path I take.”
