Program

The program in Jewish liturgy is interdepartmental, designed to introduce students to the development, genres, and themes of Jewish liturgical expression from ancient times to the present. With the oversight of their advisers, students choose courses from the liturgy offerings, as well as relevant courses from the departments of Bible, History, Talmud and Rabbinics, and Jewish Thought in order to give them the broadest understanding of the historical development, content, and context of Jewish liturgy and ritual.

Furthermore, students are encouraged to choose appropriate courses from neighboring institutions offered through the consortium. The program affords students the freedom to choose courses so that their interests can be fully developed.
