L'shanah tovah from The Jewish Theological Seminary. For decades, JTS has served as the makom tefillah (place of prayer) for Jews of the Upper West Side for the High Holy Days. This year, 5768, we are pleased to offer services for the community at JTS. All JTS services are free and open to the public on a first-come basis.
There will be three services at JTS during the Yamim Noraim:
1. The JTS Main Service—Feinberg Auditorium. Conducted by Rabbi Marc Wolf and JTS Rabbinic Fellow Abby Treu, the JTS Main Service features a traditional liturgy with kavanot (explanations). Chancellor Arnold Eisen will deliver a sermon at Kol Nidrei services. This service will be open to the public on a first-come basis.
2. The Kehilah Minyan—Womens League Seminary Sanctuary. This smaller service will be led by rabbinical students Cece Beyer and Michelle Dardashti and include teaching and more frequent explanations. This service is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.
3. On Yom Kippur, JTS will hold a Beit Midrash Minyan in the Eisenfeld/Duker Beit Midrash at JTS. Led by Rabbi Charles Savenor, associate dean of The Rabbinical School, this minyan will include congregational participation with niggunim and few interruptions.
Once again, JTS will be hosting Kehilat Hadar for Rosh Hashanah. Reservations are required and open to members of the Hadar community. For more information, please visit their website at www.kehilathadar.org.
All are welcome as space permits. Photo ID is required for admission to JTS. Students from JTS, Columbia, and Barnard will be admitted with student ID at all service times.
If you are planning on making JTS your primary makom tefillah for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, or both, and would like to reserve a space, please register for the appropriate holiday. To register for services, please click here to visit the registration page.
All JTS services are free and open to the public; a suggested donation of $36 after your attendance is greatly appreciated.
