Applicants to The Graduate School, regardless of whether they seek matriculated or nonmatriculated status, must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and present evidence of the ability to pursue studies on the graduate level. Applicants to doctoral programs in most disciplines may be required to have earned a master's degree in a related discipline.

For general information about applying to graduate school, see here.

To the right, you will find links to The Graduate School's applications for admission. Each application booklet contains instructions. Please download, print, and fill out the appropriate form(s). Applicants who seek entry into a degree program should complete a matriculated application. Those who wish either to audit courses or to take them for credit without enrolling in a degree program should complete a nonmatriculated application.

PhD applicants who request funding must submit all materials by January 2. The Graduate School accepts MA applications on a rolling basis until August 1. However, to receive full consideration for fellowships, MA applicants must submit all materials by March 1. Nonmatriculated applications for the fall are due August 15, and nonmatriculated applications for the spring are due December 15. Complete applications need to reach the Office of Admissions by these dates.

The Graduate School is open to qualified students without regard to age, sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, or national origin.
